This is my absolute favorite for fried fish. It reminds me of a family fish fry without all the mess! Only fish and fries but if that is what you want it is the best! Be warned Cash ONLY! If you come make sure you get an order of onions w your fish!
And don't forget the homemade cakes and cookies the ladies make. Get there early because these go quick! -

I was glad to try this popular fish fry. It's true that they draw a crowd - a constant flow incoming and outgoing customers. The senior citizens are the majority and they fill every available table.
I made the mistake of getting in the line specifically for those ordering fish by the pound. But, no biggie, the man in charge directed me to the one other line that's for individual sized orders. I ordered the dinner that came with three pieces of fish, fries, 2 slices of white or wheat bread, and a side of cole slaw. Drinks are separate. The total cost was $8 and some change - super cheap. CASH ONLY.
The fries were slammin. They were extra crispy / crunchy and tasted very good without being greasy. The cole slaw was OK. Nothing exciting or unique about it, but edible. The fish was a bit disappointing for my expectation. Each piece was a decent size and not greasy - good points. My disappointment was that it seems the fillets were sitting around for a while. I did notice that my ticket # was called before I even made it to my seat (I ate there). So clearly there was no cooking the fish to order. As I took my bites I did notice that the meat didn't look as if freshly cooked - it looked dry and boring.
I prefer my fish to be freshly cooked so that it's piping hot, the batter is nice and crunchy, and the meat easily detaches and falls into my taste buds without being stiff and not brightly colored.
Generally, I'm all about giving second chances because I realize one-offs and isolated incidents do exist. So I "might" give Suburban Fish Fry another try one day.
Dessert was available at a designated table. It was cash only for a really low cost. I've never heard of this organization, Job's Daughters International (JDI - Job is pronounced as Job in the Bible), but they were selling the home baked goods for a 2019 trip. -

This is the best fish you can get other than a good old fashion fish fry at home. They only have fish, fries coleslaw and bread. Buy it by the pound or sandwich. Rainbow girls are usually there selling desserts. Remember this place is cash only!!!
Almost forgot you must get the onions to eat with your fish. They are only open on Saturdays March through November. This place you must try. Nothing fancy just great fish. -

Simply the best fried fish in Louisville. Green River style , cornmeal breaded fish. Family of four ordered two pound of fish, two orders of fries, six slices of bread, two sides of onions, and four drinks. $38.20. Worth twice the price. Lunch room at school vibe....deal with it. It's worth it.

Good fried fish cheap. One day a week from Spring to Fall. Cash only. Packed inside and the parking lot. Relatively quick service. Usually friendly with the occasional grumpy old man. Patrons the same; most understand the crowding situation and some get frustrated and need you to help them adjust their attitude, when they bump into you, want your table or expect you to hurry up out of your parking space. Having said that most of the staff and patrons are friendly; I've even shared tables with friendly strangers over the years during busy times.
Today was that busy being the second Saturday they've been open and also being Lent. It was sold out and standing room only. $8.95 for 3 pieces of fish, fries, and slaw. It's a lot of food. It's cheap. I only finished half and brought the rest home to my bf. Good bang for the buck. They also sell by the pound as others have stated.
Fish: whitefish, not catfish as another reviewer said. "Green River style"; peppery cornmeal breading; not battered. Pretty tasty. The fish is somewhat thin though. They give you three big pieces. Fries: Rally's style with a coating and they give you a ton. Coleslaw: good and good amount, but won't wow you. Tartar: good, but store bought. The onions in vinegar and sugar are good too.
Worth a trip if you like good fried fish at a good value.
